Where is nature material in your portfolio, and where does it land?
FINMA Circular 2026/1 extends to all nature-related financial risks from 1 January 2028, and the ISSB has proposed nature-related disclosures. Screen ten sectors, check your LEAP progress and test whether findings reach your credit, underwriting and investment processes, in about 15 minutes.
Sectors, LEAP and Ledger
Mark where nature-dependent exposure is material, then work through the LEAP checklist and the Ledger step.

Priority sectors with dependencies, impact drivers and a transmission channel each, a pre-filled Ledger worksheet, actions for every gap, and a recommended starting point.
Which best describes your institution?
Answer for the portfolios where nature-related risk is most likely to be material: loans, underwriting or investments.

Where is your exposure to nature-dependent sectors material?
Mark each sector where your financed, insured or invested exposure is material. Rule of thumb: a High or Very high sector belongs in scope above roughly 5% of relevant exposure, or if smaller exposure sits in ecologically sensitive or water-stressed locations.
Agriculture, aquaculture & fisheriesVery high dependency · Water, soil quality, pollination, climate regulation
Food & beverage processingHigh dependency · Water supply, stable raw materials
Forestry, pulp & paperVery high dependency · Soil, water cycle, pest control
Mining & metalsHigh dependency · Water supply, erosion control
Oil, gas & power generationMedium–high dependency · Cooling and process water, flood protection
Utilities & waterVery high dependency · Freshwater provision, flow regulation
Construction & real estateMedium dependency · Flood and erosion protection, water
Chemicals & pharmaceuticalsMedium–high dependency · Water supply, genetic resources
Textiles & apparelHigh dependency · Water, soil for fibre crops
Tourism & leisureHigh dependency · Landscapes, coastal and marine ecosystems
How far have you completed the Locate phase?
Priority sectors from Part 1 are confirmed with exposure attached.
Counterparty or asset locations are geo-referenced for priority sectors, even approximately.
Interfaces with sensitive locations are flagged (protected and key biodiversity areas, water-stressed basins).
How far have you completed the Evaluate phase?
Dependencies on ecosystem services are identified per priority sector.
Impact drivers are identified per priority sector (land use, water, pollution, resource use, invasive species).
The upstream value chain is considered where it dominates the risk.
How far have you completed the Assess phase?
A transmission channel is written for each material issue: how ecosystem change reaches cash flow or collateral.
At least one plausible scenario or stress is applied per priority sector (e.g., water allocation cut, deforestation regulation, yield shock).
The materiality judgement is recorded with its rationale, including what was screened out.
How far have you completed the Prepare phase?
There is a named owner for nature-related risk in the risk function, not only in sustainability.
The disclosure approach is mapped to TNFD, the ISSB proposals and ESRS E4 where in scope.
Every material finding is routed to the Ledger (Part 3).
Do your findings land in the processes you already run?
The Artamis step. A finding that produces no Ledger entry is context, not yet risk management.
Price: at least one material finding is reflected in terms and conditions (covenants, conditions precedent, premium loadings, valuation haircuts).
Provision: nature findings feed existing early-warning and provisioning governance (watchlist triggers, expert overlays, ICAAP or ORSA scenario inputs).
Position: nature findings change portfolio shape or client strategy (sector policy, limits, engagement plans, product design).
Each Ledger action has a named process owner outside the sustainability team.

Book a callWhat the LEAP-to-Ledger adds to the standards you already follow
- TNFD Recommendations and LEAP guidance, including the guidance for financial institutions, define how to locate, evaluate, assess and disclose; Ledger adds a finding-by-finding route into existing controls.
- ENCORE, IBAT, WRI Aqueduct and the WWF Risk Filters provide sector and location data; the kit adds a screening protocol scoped to your portfolio.
- The NGFS conceptual framework for nature-related financial risks (2023) sets out transmission channels; Ledger quantifies only where a channel can be modelled.
- FINMA Circular 2026/1, the ISSB Exposure Draft (October 2026) and ESRS E4 set expectations; one assessment serves risk management and disclosure.
Edition November 2026. Self-assessed results are general guidance, not regulatory, legal or investment advice. Regulatory references reflect the status known to Artamis in November 2026; confirm current requirements for your jurisdiction and entities. There is no accepted method today for a portfolio-wide nature-adjusted PD. Ledger quantifies only where a channel can be modelled with counterparty data and uses structured expert overlays elsewhere. Sector ratings are Artamis’s indicative summary informed by ENCORE; confirm them at your own sector granularity.
